Quote from Karlie

This weekend Karlie was watching Bolt and the TV was up pretty loud. She said…”It’s too loooud!…It’s hurting my eeaars!…It’s going to give me an ear infection!”

Michael Jackson Medley

I like a capella music…this Michael Jackson Medley blows me away. I had to share it!

Our blog is not dead.

5 weeks between posts is definitely to long though,  so I’ll make up for it with this blog… which will be amazing.

A lot has happened since the last blog – here’s a recap:

  1. We made it back from the beach. The beach was great, the girls loved it… a couple things we learned though. Next year we’re going to take an umbrella, and while we really liked the hotel.. we want to try a house on the beach w/ a pool. That’s not too much to ask for… right?
  2. The girls loved the ocean. Emily and I were both surprised how much they wanted to play out there… we ended up buying Tristan and Karlie boogie boards. Karlie especially was a little dare devil. She really has no fear… unless it’s 8:45pm and its time for her to get in bed… then she’s afraid of everything.
  3. Reese can walk… I walked at like 6 months old though so it’s to be expected. HA.
  4. Reese has teeth… about 2 and 1/4 teeth to be exact – although at night she acts like she has 45 teeth and she is not happy that they’re attempting to do whatever it is they’re doing.
  5. Karlie is married… to Jackson (her cousin). Just don’t ask her about it.
  6. Tristan is officially a 2nd grader. :)
  7. We FINALLY started working on the basement. We have about half.. maybe a little less than half of the drywall up. Having some extra room for the girls… and us.. is going to be nice.
  8. Soccer starts again next week. Tristan is playing… Karlie is going to do gymnastics instead.
  9. Hmmmm… I think that’s about it… so much for amazing!

Here are a few pictures from our vacation…

Our vacation is coming up! We’ll be heading to the beach July 31…or that’s the plan for now. Tim and I are soooo indecisive. We can never decide what to do, when to do it, how to do it. We change our minds all the time, and that’s been the case with planning our summer vacation this year. First, we booked a week in Williamsburg and we planned to go to Water Country and Busch Gardens. We had those plans for a little while and then I had a grand idea that it would be awesome to vacation in Chicago this summer! We talked about it and agreed that YES! Chicago would be an awesome summer vacation. So, we called Erin and Shawn and asked if they’d like to have us and of course they said yes. That grand idea lasted about 2 days…long enough for us to decide that a 12 hour drive in the car with 3 kids might not be such a good idea afterall. So, our plans changed back to Williamsburg. Yay! Busch Gardens and Water Country here we come! Not so fast, Emily. The whole time we’ve been planning our summer vacation in Williamsburg and Chicago, deep down we’ve really just wanted to go to the beach. Soo, when Tim found a pretty good deal for a week at Myrtle Beach we booked it without giving it much thought.  Now we had two vacations booked for the same week! (Yeah, that’s how we do things.) We were able to get rid of the reservation in Williamsburg and we’re still planning on going to Myrtle Beach….we think. No, we are really going…for sure….seriously. Stay tuned for lots of fun pictures!

July 4th weekend…

Last week we made what is becoming our annual 4th of July trip to Missouri, and as usual… we had a great time.  It was filled with lots of golf, shopping, good food, family, friends, fireworks, police officers and mosquito’s.

The only downsides this year.. we didn’t get to see Shawn and Erin (who stayed in Chicago for a wedding) and the mosquito’s.

I’ve never really had a problem with the mosquito’s bothering me while we’re out there.. but this trip, I was apparently the target of some kind of mosquito swarm. So next time we go out there, I’ll seriously consider wearing one of Nicole’s OFF! fans like the one in the picture…she swears they work!

offI think part of the mosquito attack happened while we were shooting off fireworks… this was the same night that we encountered one of Bernie’s finest policemen. He drove by going about 2 mph as we sat in the driveway surrounded by 1000 super snap wrappers, 1 bag full of fireworks, and one huge pile of fireworks that we had already set off. (About 5 minutes before he came by, 3 roman candles were set off at once.. so that’s like 30 different shots that might as well have been some kind of cannon. Just slightly loud. Somebody must have complained!)

So he rode by.. we sat there in the dark.. trying to look innocent.. trying not to laugh. He went down the road, turned around… 2 mph again – he started back. This time he stopped… “y’all haven’t been shooting off any fireworks have you?” hahahah. No sir. Not sure how all this stuff got in the driveway. That’s what I was thinking in my head anyway. Chad and Nicole did all the actual talking. The future detective left with a warning to save the fireworks for the 4th… we did just that :)

Other weekend highlights:

  • I lost my wedding ring while we were playing volleyball in the Campbell’s pool. (Ring has been found.)
  • Reese saw her first fireworks.

Can’t wait to go back next year…I’ll be taking a mosquito net…and my water volleyball title.

Golfing

We took Reese golfing for the first time over the 4th of July weekend. She LOVED riding on the golf cart.

So. Tired.

Tristan was just a little tired after a day at the pool. This was about 3 minutes after we had gotten in the car to drive home.

I was pretty perfect this past week…so this is going to be short.

I did NOT offer to cook breakfast for Tim on Father’s Day, and when he told me what he wanted I did NOT have to ask him how to make it! I cook all the time…trust me, I know my way around the kitchen!!
