Since Em failed to get her Not Me! Monday out this week, I thought I’d give it a shot… here goes:

  1. I did not laugh, point and call Emily a klutz when I walked up on her laying at the top of the steps yelling about almost ripping her toe nail off after another one of her adventures in climbing the steps. That’s unthinkable really – I don’t enjoy seeing people fall… at all. Besides, what caring husband acts that way!
  2. While Emily and I were grocery shopping the other day I most definitely did not point out a very large woman – whose very large rump had started to eat her VERY tight spandex pants. Not only would that be gross, it’s just not very nice to talk about people.
  3. Driving to work this morning… I did not yell and blow the horn at the car in front of me for driving 10 miles below the speed limit… only to realize 10 minutes later they actually work in the same complex as me. Nope I didn’t do that.
  4. I did not post #2 against my wife’s wishes. She was completely on board.

Pretty picture.

Here’s a picture of Tristan and Karlie (not cooperating) after I straightened their hair. And Tristan has “new” bangs. She looks so grown up.tris_karlie_straighthair

steps

It’s easy to recognize the sound of someone running up or down steps… lately I’ve become pretty familiar with the sound of someone falling down steps, and up steps..

Last week I was upstairs doing something when I hear a crash… sounded like Emily tried kicking a hole in the floor or something.. that was either when her foot slipped off the edge of the step or when she hit the ground – I’m not sure which. When I made it out there to see what was going on, she was laying there… on the steps… holding her big toe and telling me that she almost broke her toe nail off.

That was at least the 3rd or 4th time she’s wiped out on the steps since we’ve lived in this townhouse.

So last night I was upstairs again doing whatever when I hear a bombombombombom… and Emily going ahhhhhh! I was immediately like.. “are you kidding me!?” I ran out there and Emily is again.. in the middle of the steps – laid out straight over about 6-7 steps with one hand still hanging on to the handrail.. apparently she did the butt slide down about half the steps.

It was funny until I hear about a guy at work falling down his steps and ending up in a body cast…..! So Em… take it easy on the steps. :)

bathtime!

Emily couldn’t help herself – had to take a picture of the little booty…

A Few Favorites

I literally have thousands of photos on my computer that are in no type of order at ALL. It drives me crazy when I try to find a specific picture, but I recently discovered how AWESOME Picasa Web Albums is, and my photos are already so much more organized. We’re looking at a couple months to get them all uploaded to the web…but for now…they are in neatly arranged folders in the Picasa software on my computer. Now that I can look at my photos on the web from any computer, I find myself browsing through them when I really should be working whenever I get the chance. Here are a few of my favorites from recent albums I’ve uploaded.

Karlie ‘graduated’…

So Karlie’s daycare class had their graduation yesterday…

Karlie didn’t actually graduate because she’s not heading to kindergarten next year – her birthday is in October so she’s not quite old enough.  Instead she’s going to Reese’s daycare.. and she’s excited about that.

About the graduation though.. the 5-6 kids that are going on to kindergarten all walked out in their cap and gowns and received certificates. One little girl immediately tried to give the certificate back to the teacher.. ‘can you hold this?’… another tripped over his gown and went down.

The class had a little song and dance routine prepared… like 8 songs actually. Karlie knew her material… and she got to hug the little boy standing next to her during one song.. his name.. Long Long. Ahem.

Karlie got a certificate for just being part of the daycare class.. I thought for certain she had been nominated class spaz.

Each kid got to tell what their favorite part of the year was… the majority of the class liked the ‘field twips’.

They finished up with cake and snacks for everyone. Karlie and Gracie sat beside one another… Karlie dipping her cheese blocks in kool-aid and letting everyone know…. ‘this is awesome!’.

Not Me! Monday

Here are a few things I did NOT do this past week…

  1. I did NOT think that I could use the laundry basket as a step stool (there is no way that I believed it would hold my weight). My foot did NOT bust through the plastic and I did not end up with a very ugly cut afterwards. That would be so dumb of me!
  2. I did not get lost in Ellett County on my way to a party Saturday night. Where is Ellett County you ask? Good question. I have no idea either! But it is out in the middle of nowhere, with dark, windy roads through the woods. I did not stop at the only gas station around for miles and knock on the LOCKED door in hopes that someone was inside who could help me with directions. I did not take directions from the nice lady, and I did NOT end up even FURTHER out in the middle of nowhere. I did not call Tim in a fizzy, telling him that I had given up and I was coming home!!! I did NOT let him calm me down and tell me exactly where to go. But, I did have a BLAST at the party!!!
  3. I did not back the Acura into the Infinity that was parked in the driveway. Some of you may not use the rear view mirror, but I DO!

Wait and see what I don’t do next week!!

8 months

Reese is 8 months old. Actually, she’ll be 9 months old in one week! Here’s what she’s been up to this month.

  • Waving bye-bye
  • Clapping her hands (and JUST today, she did the motions to Patty Cake as I sang the song. She clapped her hands and then did the “roll’em up” motion. Tristan witnessed this and we couldn’t believe she did it….more than once too!)
  • Still saying Dada and NOT Mama
  • Saying uh-oh
  • Making progress using the sippy-cup by herself
  • Furniture walking (short distances)
  • Pulling up on furniture and letting go…the longest she has kept her balance is about 5 seconds. My mom said that I started walking when I was 9 months old. So maybe she’s on track to be like her Mama!
  • Getting too big to be drug/carried around by Tristan anymore.
  • Finding every crumb, string, and speck of paper on the floor and sticking it in her mouth before we can catch her. She likes to eat paper the best. (No we do NOT let her actually eat it. When she sneaks a piece in we have to dig it out of her mouth and she gets SO mad.)
  • Smiling, exploring, learning, and making us laugh every day!

Reesie, please slow down. You are growing way too fast.

I really would like to start blogging on this subject regularly. And I think I could do it once a week as long as I remember to write down the things that come out of Karlie’s mouth. Obviously, I haven’t started writing them down yet, so here are (only) two that I can remember from this week.

1. As Karlie is walking through the front door and Ruby is jumping all around with excitement keeping her from getting in the house….”Goodness grief Ruby!!!”

2. Conversation at the dinner table.

Tim: “What do you guys (speaking to Tristan and Karlie) think about going to Busch Gardens this summer?”

Tristan: “Noooo, I do NOT want to go there!”

Tim: “Do you even know what is at Busch Gardens?”

Karlie: “Bushes?”

Not me! Monday

1. I did NOT lay on the couch and watch a movie (Mall Cop) while Reese was asleep and Tim was cleaning the upstairs bathrooms. That would have been way too relaxing, you know, to have some quiet, sit down by myself and do nothing, time. Wouldn’t have been fair to Tim either! I would never do that.

2. I did NOT shove a pacifier in Reese’s mouth at Wal-Mart because she kept doing her fake coughing thing and I was getting so embarrassed. Everyone who could see and hear her (3 isle’s down) probably thought it was so cute/funny! I would never want to keep them from getting a good laugh.

3. I did NOT pick my nose and flick it behind the couch while Tim was unknowingly watching. WHAA? Get out of here!! You are CRAZY if you think I did that.

Stay tuned for next weeks, Not me! Monday.
