New Year’s Resolution

Happy New Year! This new year brings a new resolution. Betcha can’t guess what that is!! Yep, my new year’s resolution is to start blogging again. And to keep up with it. Not really for any other reason than to have this online scrapbook for us to look back on. I realllly want to do this. We’ll see how long I last.

So my last post was when I was 36 weeks pregnant, and Pace turned 9 months old 4 days ago. I guess having a newborn is a good excuse for slacking on blogging, right? Yeah, I think so, too! Anyway…Pace was born on March 30, 2012 about 5 hours after I went to the doctor’s office to see if I was really in labor. He didn’t waste anytime, and I was perfectly fine with that. He was 8lbs. 7oz. and 21 inches long…I think 😉

We are now a family of 6! See?

Familyof6Here’s a quick update on each of us…so, you know…when Reese has made me lose my mind, I’ll have all this down on “paper.”

Tim: He is still working for DSA, Inc. He has been with them for 5 years now. He couldn’t be more excited about having a boy in the family. After we got the news, and I picked up his jaw off the floor, he had a permanent smile on his face for days (so did I). We’re thankful to have him as our family’s personal chef, because as Reese said yesterday, “You make really good food, Daddy.” He spends his free time going to Hokie football and basketball games, working on projects around the house, and heading up our church basketball and softball leagues.

Emily: I recently got a new position at work as the Graphic Design Manager for the Division of Student Affairs Communications and Marketing department. I’m really enjoying it! I’m having so much fun being a mommy to our new baby boy (and the others, too!). I run a taxi service to schools, daycares, and dance and gymnastics classes. I’ve started playing volleyball again after my year-long maternity leave. And in my free time, if there’s any, I like to go shopping…alone!

Tristan: Our oldest and most helpful mini-mom is 10 years old and in the 5th grade. She loves to take care of her baby brother, and she can do it all! Give baths, feed, and change dirty diapers. She also loves to read, and her current extracurricular activites are dance and soccer.

Karlie: Our 8-year old gymnast has more energy than all of us combined. She is in 2nd grade now. She spends 10 hours a week at gymnastics and is competing at level 4. She puts in the hard work and it really pays off. She likes to perform (her own dances) for us, go skating, draw, and jump on the trampoline.

Reese: Our preschooler is 4 going on 18. She is miss independent, although she is a momma’s girl and thankfully still needs me around for some things 😉 She loves to play school with her babies and always says she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. I’m thinking she’s going to need to learn a little patience before she can do that though. (Shhh, don’t tell her I said that.) She has almost as much energy as Karlie, so they play hard together. A referee is needed often occasionally. She has tried gymnastics, soccer, and dance, and I think she likes them in that order. She is super excited about starting kindergarten this year!

Pace: Our sweet, laid-back, 9-month old is on the move! He recently mastered crawling, and he is pulling up on everything. He loves to wave and say “Bye Bye Bye Bye.” He does say “Da Da” but still not a mention of Mama…hmph! He has 5 teeth and has 3 sisters who can’t get enough of him. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by their smothering love, but I’m suspecting he may be an early walker so he can run from them!
